History and development of Le Petit Chateau

As far as we can tell, the original house was originally built in the 1800s with the single story building we call 'The Chapel' added sometime after. According to the locals, the single story building was added as a meeting place for the villagers to meet the Mayor and the small building in the additional garden accross the lane was at one time the village toilet (it's now the garden shed!!). The name Le Petit Château is apparently what the older villagers call the property and who are we to argue!

We purchased the house at the end of December 2013 and have set about renovations as it has been empty for the past 15 years or so. Eventually there will be 3 double en suite rooms, a family room and a guest lounge and we also hope to convert the attached barns to self catering accommodation for families and groups of walkers, cyclists, bikers and climbers.

  • The first phase of renovations was a new roof which is complete.
  • The second phase; two en suite rooms, kitchen, dining room is now complete.
  • The guest lounge is now complete.
  • The third phase consisting of a family room with the ability to sleep 4 people is now complete.
You can keep informed about everything going on at Le Petit Chateau on our Facebook page by following us on Facebook.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
